Housekeeping post: Join me on Notes
A new place to get status updates on what's happening next with the newsletter.
About two and a half weeks ago, Substack opened up something called Substack Notes. This was because Elon Musk’s Twitter had signaled they would block links by anyone promoting their Substack newsletters on the platform.
I’m off of Twitter completely now. I still have my accounts but don’t use them anymore. Something about this ban doesn’t sit well, just like the ban on journalists who have critiqued Musk.
This means I don’t have a place where I can tell you, the reader and listener, what the status of the next newsletter is. It’s tedious to send a note through this channel as you signed up for content and not housekeeping.
But today I need to take another day to finish the next newsletter. It will be solely from the April 25, 2023 meeting of the Charlottesville City Council and Charlottesville Planning Commission meeting. They spoke for nearly four hours and I still have another hour and a half to listen to go through. I’m almost done, but I need to get through a bit more of the audio.
So, in the meantime, check out Notes, which looks a little like Twitter but isn’t Twitter. I’m also not sure how much I will use it, but for now, this is where you could go if you want to know what’s coming up next.
Notes looks like Substack Chat, which you initially had to be on their app to be on. To be honest, I find a lot of it confusing and miss the old Twitter, but I am not going back.
While I’m here, I may as well say that the next two weeks may see a reduced schedule. I have family visiting from England and I’d like to devote some time to be fully present with them. But, expect content all of the same!
Thoughts? Comments?
But look tomorrow for the next real newsletter and podcast.
